Teardrops

13 07 2008

(Dedicated to the children I worked with in Anadarko, Ok.)

On every street are broken homes, shattered lives, empty eyes. Splintered glass covers asphalt oozing black slime, weeds push through cracks in the pavement like so many hurting souls.

May every tear they cry be a child who turns to You.

Manicured lawns and shiny Cadillacs embellish empty homes, empty lives, torn apart.

May every teardrop be one more who chooses Your path.

Children are fighting, crying inside from pain they’re too afraid to express. It’s a battleground–who will fight for their hearts? “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Eph. 6:12)

Backs are breaking, people are praying, chains are dropping down, hitting the ground.

Our hearts ache, the Spirit groans. We walk this road together. The pages of our Bibles are wrinkled from many tears shed.

Many every drop of sweat and blood, every tear that falls, be a child who turns to walk in Your Way.
