Illusions

5 05 2009

Satan has no real power over me.

All authority on heaven and on earth belongs to Jesus (Matt. 28:18). Satan only has the power of illusion—trying to make me fear an image in my mind, a wisp of smoke. It is true that “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” (F. D. R.)

Lord, strengthen my limbs! May I never again cower in fear! That is most unbefitting a servant and ambassador of the Sovereign Warrior Lord!

Strengthen my heart, that I might no longer give in to satan’s noisy, sneaky tactics designed to render God’s warriors ineffective.

Forgive me my timidity, Father, for “you did not give us a Spirit of timidity, but a Spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” (2 Tim. 1:7) Help me to stand firm and do right and not give in to fear (1 Peter 3:6b).

Fill me with the courage to stand in the gap—to hold the bridge—in the face of fierce attack and let you, the Lion of Judah, fill the earth with your roar!

I only have to be obedient, standing in faith next to the Lion, and allow His roar to work its magic.
